Twilight vs. Virtual Twilight
Which one is the virtual photo, and which one is an actual twilight photo?
At first glance, they may appear similar. One photo was taken during the day, and edited into what is called ‘virtual twilight’ to simulate an evening shot. It’s been given a soft dusk sky, warm glowing windows and twinkling outdoor lighting. The other photograph was taken during the evening hour. The sky is natural, the lighting coming from the house making the indoors visible.
Timing is everything
In order to get the soft warmth of evening, timing is critical. The photographer must get to the property well before sunset to survey where the sun sets, the best angle of the house, and any obstacles that may be in the way (trees, power lines, etc.). The weather can be partly cloudy for some drama, but severely overcast skies can postpone a shoot.
True Twilight Photography adds a depth of warmth and enhances the home’s features as if standing before the house in person.
Convenience to the rescue
Rainy day at the time of the shoot? Want something a little more economical? No worries! Virtual Twilight is here to save the day.
Even if the clouds were a dreary gray, the property can be given a warm glow in the windows, the outdoor lighting will spark to life, and the sky is enhanced with the blushing rose hue of dusk.
